Install or repair cables or wires used in electrical power or distribution systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. May erect poles and light or heavy duty transmission towers.

Install, maintain, inspect, test and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, conductors, and switches Test conductors, according to electrical diagrams and specifications, to identify corresponding conductors and to prevent incorrect connections Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment . Identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments . Dig holes, using augers, and set poles, using cranes and power equipment . Clean, tin, and splice corresponding conductors by twisting ends together or by joining ends with metal clamps and soldering connections Place insulating or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints . Drive vehicles equipped with tools and materials to job sites Travel in trucks, helicopters, and airplanes to inspect lines for freedom from obstruction and adequacy of insulation . Splice or solder cables together or to overhead transmission lines, customer service lines, or street light lines, using hand tools, epoxies, or specialized equipment . String wire conductors and cables between poles, towers, trenches, pylons, and buildings, setting lines in place and using winches to adjust tension . Attach cross-arms, insulators, and auxiliary equipment to poles prior to installing them . Coordinate work assignment preparation and completion with other workers . Replace or straighten damaged poles . Trim trees that could be hazardous to the functioning of cables or wires . Lay underground cable directly in trenches, or string it through conduit running through the trenches . Pull up cable by hand from large reels mounted on trucks . Be able to perform all of the principal duties and accountabilities of craft workers under his/her supervision . Participate in all safety related processes and programs as requested Engage with your work team to ensure we achieve zero injuries Understand that no job is so important that your safety and that of your crew will be compromised Watch for hazards and report any concerns to your supervisor or safety professional If needed, use your stop work authority until the issue is resolved . Participate in all pre-job work planning and safety discussions Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate hazards . Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i e back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens) . Use effective verbal and written communication skills Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately . Listen to co-workers suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations giving full attention to what they are saying and take the time to understand the points being made, asking questions and providing feedback when appropriate . Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job . Provide on-the-job training and/or mentoring to helpers and laborers you are working with . Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards . Read and understand plans and specifications, including one line diagrams, cable and conduit schedules, ladder diagrams, P and ID's, and loop diagrams Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions . With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications Plans, lay-out, diagram, install and/or repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment in accordance with those plans and specifications

At least 4 years working experience as a lineman or equivalent combination of education and experience in an industrial construction setting. Strong working knowledge of the installation or repair of cables or wires used in electrical power or distribution systems and transmission towers and lines. Ability to understand and follow directions. Must have all necessary tools (see Lineman Tool List). Must be at least 18 years of age. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
